Backstage at My Zoom Studio

Welcome to my Zoom studio! My husband, David, and I have been adapting our home studio for online Zoom classes and open studio sessions since March 2020. Each week brings a new refinement.

The set area where I teach has video lighting, a dedicated computer, and a time clock so I can keep track of how much time remains in class. I wear a microphone that lets me roam the studio and still be heard clearly. We use two cameras running simultaneously when I teach classes: one on the model, and the other on the demonstration easel.

Our model stand has lighting that allows us to control the depth and direction of the shadows on our model. We adjust the lighting between the gesture poses and the longer poses, depending on the project.

David has been working backstage to keep our equipment running smoothly.

In the spring and summer of 2020, we shot reference photos during our open studio events. Those are now available on Line of Action where artists all over the world are using them to study while in quarantine.

The studio has been busy lately, providing life models for classes that cannot be held in person due to the pandemic.
